    Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise

    Q. Was Group Discussion or Group Exercise part of selection process?
    A.Yes, Group Discussion was part of selection process.

    Q. The duration of GD, size of the group, number of panelists, etc.
    A. There was a group of 12 persons. There were three panel members (one of them was an HR faculty, and one was Marketing faculty, and the third was an Operations faculty). Duration was – 20 minutes.

    Q. What was your GD topic?
    A. It was a general topic about Women in India.

    Q. Tell us about your GD experience?
    A. I spoke second so it wasn’t much of a problem with me but it turned into a chaos later.

    Q. How was the environment during discussion?
    A. Initially calm but as time passed it turned into a chaotic situation.

    Q. Describe your impression of the your team members and overall GD process ?
    A. We guys finally ended on a positive note and so the GD was well appreciated by the panelists, but there are always some members who continuously create confusion.

    Q. Some handy tips that would be of great help.
    A. Ether start the discussion, or if you aren’t comfortable with it, then definitely speak second or third and put up your points and don’t shout or create chaos, because it puts a bad impression. And if the group is very aggressive, still don’t worry and be calm and fit in your points somewhere.

    Q. Were there any set norms of Group Discussion?
    A. No.

    Interview-related Questions

    Q. Date and location of Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or rescheduled couple of times?
    A. I don’t remember the date but it was sometime in Feburary 2006 and location was FORE Campus, Delhi. No, the dates were fixed and I didn’t ask for any rescheduling.

    Q. Can you tell us about the panel that interviewed you?
    A. The panel for interview was the same one who took our GD. There were three panel members (one of them was an HR faculty, and other a Marketing faculty, and the third was an Operations faculty).

    Q. How long was your interview?
    A. 10-15 minutes.

    Q. What was the first question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
    A. First question was to tell something about myself. They asked me about my course, subjects, than there were questions on it, about my summer training and other general questions.

    Q. How did you prepare for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel prepared?
    A. Yes, I was confident. My coaching center provided me some tips and practice for it.

    Q. Was any feedback given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of session?
    A. They didn’t give me any feedback.

    Q. Did work experience help in getting the choice of your school and also in dealing with the curriculum?
    A. I don’t have any work-experience but I have heard that it helps. Some institutes like S. P. Jain even have separate points for it.

    Q. Getting into and sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone from Humanities background. Your comments please.
    A. That’s not at all true. All B-schools want people from diverse backgrounds so that it provides a nurturing ground for everyone.

    Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch / start a career in management?
    A. It definitely helps as in some corporate houses you require a certain minimum qualification to be promoted to that post.

    Q. Why did you decide to do MBA from this school?
    A. It has a good placement record and rated among the Top-10 in country by Outlook magazine.

    Q. Were you able to get the school of your choice or did you compromise and opted for the best option that was open / available for you?
    A. I opted for the best option available in Delhi.
