    Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise

    Q. Was Group Discussion or Group Exercise part of selection process?
    A. Yes, GD was part of the selection exercise

    Q. Date and location of Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or rescheduled couple of times?
    A. The location was Chennai around end of May 2005.

    Q. The duration of GD, size of the group, number of panelists, etc.
    A. GD was for a period of 20 minutes. Group size was 9 students with 1 panel member.

    Q. What was your GD topic?
    A. Can peace be achieved between India and Pakistan?

    Q. Tell us about your GD experience?
    A. Two people including myself were chosen from my group.

    Q. How was the environment during discussion?
    A. Sometimes people got over-excited and had to be calmed down. A bit chaotic.

    Q. Describe your impression of the your team members and overall GD process.
    A. Well, it was nice experience.

    Q. Some handy tips that would be of great help.
    A. Just Be Yourself.

    Q. Were there any set norms of Group Discussion?
    A. No.

    Q. Can you tell us about the panel that interviewed you?
    A. It was a mix of people from industry and faculty from the college.

    Q. How long was your interview?
    A. For about 15 minutes.

    Q. What was the first question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
    A. Tell us about yourself was the first question?
    What have you learned from life in Mumbai was the most interesting question.
    There was one question on accounting which could be dubbed as difficult.

    Q. How did you prepare for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel prepared?
    A. I was confident during the interview. To prepare, I really didn’t do anything special except reading up as much as possible.

    Q. Was any feedback given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of session?
    A. No feedback was given to anyone.

    Q. Did work experience help in getting the choice of your school and also in dealing with the curriculum?
    A. Not really. But having experience does help in dealing with curriculum as you can relate to the concepts better.

    Q. Getting into and sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone from Humanities background. Your comments please.
    A. Maybe, but then it is all upto the individual. There cannot be a thumb rule in this regard. There are subjects like accounts which a science graduate also finds tough to comprehend.

    Q. Will an MBA degree add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch / start a career in management?
    A. It will definitely add to the existing career plan.

    Q. Why did you decide to do MBA from this school?
    A. On the basis of feedback from students, I felt the school was equipped to provide quality education with the right atmosphere.

    Q. Were you able to get the school of your choice or did you compromise and opted for the best option that was open / available for you?
    A. Well, it was school of my choice even if it was not the best option.
